A Bit Of Chaos Is Good For You

"Go to the deepest darkest place you can permit yourself to be and see if you can find a little light up in the top right corner?"

Yes, I saw that little light. For years, I was under the impression that light was a thing by the name of resilience. What I didn't know was that the light was actually joy. How could joy exist in this extraordinarily dark moment? How could joy be present in this frightful and terrible time?

I remember how it felt in that moment. Everything was totally black. The darkest black you could even imagine. If you have ever seen a black table that has been lacquered several thousand times, the depths seem endless. This situation and time in my life was this kind of black which was as thick is molasses.

However, there was light. The only issue was, I wasn't trying to find it.

It's not going to be simple for me to come back to this place. There are numerous things that I have buried deep so nobody could ever find them. Thing is, I knew they were there. They've been there all of the time. I truly have been so frightened to let them bubble up that I honestly have actually run from my past directly into the future and have totally forgotten about the present. That's really no way to live life. That's not how my life will be lived from now on.

This place, while dark, can be illuminated. Like all dark places, bring a bright enough lantern into it and you can begin to see things as they actually are and not just how your shocked mind has interpreted them to be. So I'm going to be bringing that light in.

Turning On Your Light In Dark Times

You can't always be positive. In reality if you were positive all of the time, how could people truly accept the truth of your character? They couldn't.

Life is wonderfully balanced. So to be truly positive you have to experience substantial negatives as well. That's simply the way in which the world works. As Carl Jung once said, "The brighter the light the darker the shadow." I think that really applies here as well.

In my life, I try and keep my writing pretty positive and optimistic because I am out in this world to help others love extraordinarily and maybe, just maybe, something I talk about will help someone bring some light into their heart. For years I've been ready to pull a lesson or learning point out of even the worst circumstances to help evoke others. But what I want to share with you is that I am not constantly positive. Actually I don't ever force myself to be because that only creates inauthenticity.

I have awfully dark moments and days at times. In reality the greater I deeply love with everything I have, the more deeply I feel agony, hurt, loss, and everything else that can make your hands quiver when it comes about. I feel those things now more than I ever have before. The liquefying of a cold heart so many years ago has exposed it to be naked, vulnerable, and gives it the capacity to feel everything intensely.

So sometimes, writing something that's hopeful, is actually me fighting as tough as I'm able to to keep a good outlook on life. Actually, some days are a lot harder than others. Some days, I feel just like I'll just barely breath.

Over the years, I've learnt to express these things through my art and pour myself out through my writing and I really am so lucky to have that. So if you're wrestling, just know, I struggle too.

I struggle hard. And with all of that, I love hard.
